Mountain Views at The Westin Monache - Mammoth Lakes, California

Say hello to a little piece of heaven and it's called Mammoth Lakes. An idyllic ski town located deep within the heart of California's Sierra Nevada Mountain range. Surrounded by giant pine trees and natural beauty, it sits at 7,880 ft (elevation) - there is a brilliant local Mammoth Brewery, which is also worth a visit but be careful on how much you drink.

Mammoth Lakes is around a 50 minute drive to Yosemite National Park, which was the next big landmark stop on our road trip around the US. We opted to stay at The Westin Monache, a beautiful year-round resort is set within the heart of Mammoth village and has a number of shops and restaurants close by.

Walking into the reception, we were immediately greeted by the friendly staff members, dressed in thick ski jackets, who came to help us with our luggage and to also offer us a complementary glass of Champagne (I could get used to that kinda life).

Light by candles and drop down lighting, everywhere you walked had either roaring fireplaces or big cosy chairs to sit and relax upon. Giving you a warm, almost Hygge-esque, feeling.

We took the lift up to the third floor, as we were staying in one of the suites, making our way past the dark wood doors in the corridor, as we looked to our right we could see nothing but views of the trees and blue skies from the long windowpanes.

Our room was pretty open plan and we were greeted with the same breathtaking views as the corridor. Walking into the room you had a small kitchenette space, which included a hob, oven, microwave and fridge - perfect if you're on the go with skiing and need somewhere to start and end your day with food.

Opposite to this was the bathroom, which was pretty average really, with a bath, shower and toilet. It was definitely spacious and clean.

But my favourite part of the suite had to the bedroom and window area; this included a super soft and cosy king size bed with a fire place directly opposite it - dreamy - and of course a beautiful little window seat to look out at the breathtaking views and simply watch the world go by.
