5 Beauty Essentials for Airplane Travel

We all know that travelling for short or long distances on an airplane can leave you feeling body feeling grubby, your skin feeling dry and your looking like it's been dragged through a bush backwards.

Yes ladies, it happens to the best of us. Especially me after a long haul flight.
I have previously blogged about my must have essentials in my backpack.

But I thought it would be handy and helpful to let you know what my travel beauty essentials are for when I board a plane.

#ETLUSA Adventure: San Francisco, LA & San Diego

Stop Nine: San Francisco
After a week in Las Vegas, I was excited to see San Francisco. A few people had told me that it reminded them of England in terms of the weather and some of the architecture. Plus I needed a little bit of reality after being in the crazy word of Las Vegas

We checked out of our hotel and decided to watch the England football match before our 5pm Greyhound bus. My boyfriend booked an overnight bus for us to San Francisco that would take 14 hours and cost us $38 each.

I have only done one overnight bus before and that was Byron Bay to Sydney, which also took the same amount of time. Only this time I was prepared with socks, a hoody and a scarf; as my previous experience left me freezing for 14 hours and unable to sleep.

Turns out this journey wasn't too bad, after a change over in LA, we arrived in San Francisco where we took a cab for $10 to our hotel (/brothel, don't ask!) on Columbus Street. We weren't able to check in until 2pm an so we dropped our bags off and headed out for the morning.

Day of the Dead Festival: Mexico

Without doubt this is one of my favourite times of the year...Halloween. This year I will be celebrating it in Tijuana or New Mexico, depending on the dates, and I’m so excited to see the El Día de los Muertos - Day of the Dead Festival.

Chicago Town Pizza at Lou Malnatis

Without a doubt, Chicago is easily within my top 3 US cities. From the soaring skyscrapers to the iconic Wrigley Field baseball ground, Chicago is also know for its tasty deep pan pizzas.

When staying at our hostel, we got chatting to group of German guys who highly recommended a traditional and authentic pizza house called Lou Malnatis.

#ETLUSA Adventure: New Orleans, Chicago & Las Vegas

Picking up from where we left off in Miami...we took a flight from Miami, with a stop over in Charlotte, to go to New Orleans. Flying with US airways, who are actually a pretty good company, our journey took us around 4 hours to complete and cost around $150 with bags & taxes.

When arriving into New Orleans, we were greeted by a charismatic southern lady who showed us where we needed to get the airport bus (E2) to down town New Orleans. The bus cost $1.50 and so we walked outside to our stop and waited for the bus. Only to then be greeted by a friendly local named Ralph, who pulled up in his car and asked us if we would like a ride into town.

Usually I wouldn't jump into cars with strangers, but there was something about Ralph that made me feel at ease. He wasn't threatening, just a kind local man who wanted to do a good deed. As he drove us from the airport he informed us all about the heritage of New Orleans and pointed out historic locations along our way. Half an hour later, Ralph dropped us off at the door of our beautiful hotel, the Ambassador. He then got in his car and wished us a pleasant trip.

Places to stay in Chicago: Chicago Getaway Hostel

Upon our arrival to the Chicago Getaway Hostel, in the relaxed and trendy Lincoln Park area of Chicago,  we were tired and grubby after a 16 hour delay and lack of sleep.

After taking a relatively smooth journey by train (CTA), we arrived at the brightly coloured steps to be greeted by a warm and welcoming face on reception.

We explained that our airline had cancelled our connecting flight and that we had called to let the hostel know that we wouldn't make our first nights stay. This wasn't an issue for us. Our private room was still reserved and we weren't charged for the first night.

Around the World in 7 Amazing Swimming Pools

Whilst checking and chatting with people on Twitter I noticed a tweet by one of my fellow traveller friends who was talking about an amazing apartments in Mumbai, India where the balconies were also swimming pools. The complex holds 200 apartments and was created by Hong Kong architect, James Law and the Indian Real Estate Group, Wadhwa.

After dreaming that one day, I will 1) visit India and 2) be fortunate enough to own one of these properties, I began to think what would be my top swimming pools to visit before I die.

Dive in: The Indian skyscrapers would feature swimming pools instead of balconies

Hearty Southern Food: Shrimp Poboys in New Orleans

With the cool breeze coming in from the classic southern ceiling fan, we decided to experience our first taste of "southern food" at the authentic New Orleans restaurant, Nola or Old New Orleans  Cookery Restaurant.

Located on the infamous Bourbon Street, Nola serves up some of the tastiest southern classics such as Poboys, Gumbo and Seafood all for the price of $5-$30 depending on what you order from their enticing menu.

Wanderlust Fashion: American Inspired Halloween Costumes

I may have mentioned this before...but I love love love Halloween. Whilst travelling around America, I am currently in a Halloween frenzy with towns, people and bars advertising their extravagant Halloween parties in the build to the spookiest night of the year.

Therefore, I thought it would be amusing and for some of you slightly inspirational to make a Wanderlust Fashion based on American inspired Halloween costumes.
