As the golden Autumn leaves begin to settle on the ground, it can only mean one thing for me, Halloween is on it’s way!
I love this time of year, when the weather is still sunny with blue skies that contrast against the red and golden leaves that cover the ground. The perfect example of this idyllic image, and very fitting in my Halloween post, has to be Salem.
The spooky city of Salem is situated in the Essex County of Massachusetts in the US. Salem is home to 40,000 residents and even more tourists, as each year witch fans alike flock to the city (and neighbourhoods such as Salem Neck, The Point, South Salem and North Salem, Witchcraft Heights, Pickering Wharf, and the McIntire Historic District) to experience a bit of Hocus Pocus with the majority of the towns focussing on a combination of historical sites, wiccan boutiques and quirky Halloween/witch themed attractions and walks.
From February 1692 to May 1963, Salem (and the neighbouring towns) saw a series of highly published witch trials before the county court to prosecture people accused of witchcraft.
These trials are still very much talked about and have encoured a range of Hollywood movies such as Arthur Miller’s The Crucible.
That song... I'll Put a Spell On You!
So I hope you enjoy this blog post and Happy Halloween!

My Favourite Halloween Movie: Hocus Pocus
The Story:
“After 300 years, three sister witches are resurrected in Salem Massachusetts on Halloween night, and it us up to two teenagers, a young girl, and an immortal cat to put an end to the witches reign of terror once and for all.” (IMDB)
